1.
They Don't Make Prisons Like They Used To I am the omnipotent. I am the everlasting mind. I am a recipient. Everything that I seek I find. You're overdrawn, you're all plotting against me or trying to test me. I am the omnipotent. I am the everlasting mind. It's all insignificant. Don't worry darling, you'll be fine 'cause they don't make prisons like they used to. They don't make prisons like they care. I am utterly content. I have just one thing on my mind - common stock equivalent. You raised a pound of flesh - here's mine. You're overdrawn, you're all plotting against me but when the writing's on the wall you'll drink your wine. They don't make prisons like they used to. They don't make prisons like they care, so let's get together and set your conscience free then we can work it out.
2.
Slaves & Silicone They want to treat you like a dog, sit down, sit still, do what you're told. Tall tales and no apology. A warm welcome for her majesty. Then they sell you lies with women and cheap holidays. The red tops pound shop spies are names you'll never read again. They want to keep us locked away. Don't care what other papers say, armed with a set of QWERTY keys they'll blame this mess on refugees. Then they'll sell you lies with women and cheap holidays. The red tops pound shop spies are names you'll never read again so don't dare give them time. I will make a promise too. Wait to take your side. I remember, but do you?
3.
Where's Our Revolution Summer? I work for the weekend. At the weekends I worry and I crawl towards the pay-day tunnel light. We keep up appearance and make those books balance. The neighbours see my friends all come and go. It's touch and go. It ain't good if the kids don't say so. It ain't good if the kids don't say so. Make it work, put the hits on sale so they won't say no. I can remember the time it has taken to brave a world portrayed as episodes. A disposable income more than my life's worth, the sacrifice is one they'll never know.
4.
We're Not Lovers. You should take your time. These fears never rest, they multiply. You've taken all the wind out of my sails. Confessions of the boomerang kids of a generation failed. We're not lovers. We're not friends. We're nothing but a pair of uncertain souls stuck in this bed so turn away. No one likes to lose. Turn away. Only you can soothe. Turn away. Now our egos bruise. Turn away. Selfies set the tone, you advertise a dream that's not your own. You'd really better come down from your throne. I'm sick of seeing life through the lens of a mobile fucking phone. We're not lovers. We're not friends. We're putting on a face just as if we care but it's all pretend.
5.
Smiling At Sad Dogs. I don't hurt you very often. You're seldom heard and always seen. I don't hurt you very often. My selfishness has set. I would race to the grave without you. I was taught to behave. I don't hurt you very often. Wherever you go I'll be still. I don't hurt you very often. Be sure to take your pills. I would race to the grave without you. I was taught to behave. Everlasting. Circumstances changing again around you. Now it's raining again. You won't need to hear me 'no more. I don't hurt you very often.
6.
Comfortable 04:11
Comfortable Set every bridge I cross alight, soaked to the skin again and can't turn back. So sick and tired of picking fights, so sick and tired of always being right. The best advice it comes at night - fuck all your friends - your friends are fuck all. I can't begin to tell you why, I can't begin to tell you who I am anymore. I've never been so comfortable. Take advantage, take the self esteem of ghost towns. I've never been so comfortable. A mirror's stare in black a white, a reflection so tired, so still. Anxiety - you grind your teeth - an optimist looking to blame caffeine. I'm scared of turning 35, watching a VHS of my old life with an audience that I despise. Sunrise we leave here. Dissolved in the light. It's not a band, it's a fucking disease.
7.
I Am A Weight It will take you time so see I'm a weight but I get things done. Vultures of the clubbing scene - you're the bane of my existence. Your body's cold, your heart's all wrong and you've got nowhere to go and we all get bored and old. They still love to turn on me, they're thorns and they're in my side.
8.
Postmadonna 02:25
Postmadonna A situation has been getting to me. Fake a smile - it makes sense. My bones ache but I don't know why. It's all they want to know. "Is he ashamed of himself?". I've got soul babe, it's on fire tonight. Collected carbon lowers into the ground and say what you want about it, the cause of death was CCJ. It's all they want to know. "Is he ashamed of himself?". I've got soul babe, it's on fire tonight. I see the fire that's burning in your eyes like strangers hands on thighs. It comes on and on and on until I say yes. Is he ashamed? Is he ashamed of himself?
9.
Little Fixes 03:35
Little Fixes Something's got to give but it's impossible, they say it's impossible to shake this feeling now. I'm taking it back to basics, another atheist told to keep his head underground. I think that you'd know better than this, you're no better than this one. Someone's got to leave, it's irrelevant who stays but it's impossible to sort out in 10 days. You're better off doing this on your own, another time and place when we're both fully grown. I think that you'd know better than this, you're no better than this one. They're all sitting down waiting for some answers, and I'd be better off wasted, unused while they're sitting down waiting for an outcome. If they won't tell you, they won't tell anyone. These little fixes take their toll.
10.
Something For Now I was born in this skin. I was born and an existential crisis started within, you let the light in. Sell your service abroad. Get the key to the maisonette apartment you can't afford. It's why we're so flawed. You wait your turn. It'll cost you deep inside, now you're at my door licking your old sores that have healed. You watched it burn while he watched you from the side. What the world don't know is you want something for now. I've met your doppelganger, he was hollow too. Declining suitors rings again and I saw straight through the shame. We lost you on the way.

about

Tucked away in a secluded Newport suburb, South Wales underdogs Stay Voiceless have covertly created a brilliant debut album made of equal parts sugar and bile.

Produced by Richard Jackson (The Automatic, Young Legionnaire, Future Of The Left) and Jamie Young, "Lies To Tell Your Children" holds up a mirror to society and dares to ask if you like what you see.

Ten songs of fierce, guitar driven polemic against the realities of broken Britain, "Lies To Tell Your Children" wraps the bands signature working class honesty in swathes of brutal indie rock catharsis.

Released through GMC 7th August 2020.
